Enter IP in the Airtame App
When using the Airtame App it is possible to screen share by entering the specific IP of the screen. While popular in the past, it is no longer recommended as the primary way to initiate screen-sharing sessions. This is due to the length of the IP address that has to be typed and the confusion in case of typos.

What are Native Protocols?
Native streaming protocols allow for different ...
Native streaming protocols allow for different ways to connect to an Airtame screen. They do not require an app and they are already on your PC, phone, or tablet.
The native streaming protocols in Airtame are:
- AirPlay for iOS and macOS.
- Google Cast for Chromebook and Android devices.
- Miracast for Windows and some Android devices.
These protocols are disabled by default. If you would like to use them, they should be actively enabled.
AirPlay
The AirPlay protocol lets you use the screen-sharing functionality that’s already built into macOS and iOS devices, eliminating the need to install the Airtame desktop app. AirPlay also lets you extend your desktop from your MacBook to use an Airtame-equipped screen as an additional display. This is ideal for many presentation scenarios in which you want to view your presenter notes privately while sharing different content with Airtame.
Click here to learn more about AirPlay
Google cast
With Google Cast you can fully mirror your screen from your Android devices as well as Chrome OS, and when casting via the Chrome browser from any operating system, without the need for the Airtame app. Google Cast mirroring streams are encoded in H.264 or VP8 formats and transmitted as UDP packets.
Click here to learn more about Google Cast
Miracast
The Miracast protocol lets you use the screen-sharing functionality that’s already built into Windows and Android devices, eliminating the need to install the Airtame desktop app. Miracast also lets Windows users extend their desktop and use Airtame as an additional display. An additional benefit of Miracast is that it supports Touchback functionality on interactive whiteboards.
Click here to learn more about Miracast
How does Miracast work on your network?
The Miracast native streaming protocol can work in two different ways: Peer 2 Peer and Miracast over Infrastructure.
The Peer 2 Peer (P2P) setup works the same way as far as the presenter is concerned, but the key difference is that it relies on the Airtame device's access point (AP) being enabled. The benefit of this is that screen sharing can take place independently of the network, as the connection is direct from a presenter’s PC to the Airtame’s access point.
Click here to learn more about Miracast on Peer 2 Peer
The Miracast over Infrastructure setup
This is a great option for those who want to let presenters use the built-in screen-sharing functionality of their Windows devices, but do not want to have active access points on Airtame devices. The connection goes over the local network (LAN). Initial discovery is still done in a P2P (Peer-to-peer) mode, but no APs need to be enabled.

How to Select Video Peripherals
To select video peripherals you must first ensu...
To select video peripherals you must first ensure that the Airtame screen has an active Airtame Hybrid license.
Adding your camera, microphone, and speaker is essential to a conference call. By accessing the device settings from the Cloud, you can select which connected peripherals should be used with your Airtame screen.
Note: We highly recommend always selecting the same peripherals as the microphone and speaker. Not doing this will likely produce unwanted echo during calls.
Selecting video peripherals
- Log into your Airtame Cloud account.
- Select an Airtame screen to change the peripheral for.
- Click the Edit settings button.
- Click the Conferencing menu.
- In the Microphone drop-down, select the microphone to be used.
- In the Speaker drop-down, select the speaker to be used.
- In the Camera drop-down, select the camera to be used.
- Click the Apply Changes button.
When starting a call on this Airtame screen the selected peripherals will be used.

What Peripherals are Supported for Hybrid Conferencing?
To run video conferencing calls on an Airtame s...
To run video conferencing calls on an Airtame screen from a meeting room, it will first need to be connected to a camera, microphone, and speaker device.
The Airtame Hub can interact with 1 camera and 1 speakerphone (microphone + speaker) device at a time but not two or more devices of the same class simultaneously. For example, 2 cameras cannot be utilized at the same time when connected directly to Airtame Hub.
Airtame Hub has three USB 3.0 ports available for connecting video and audio devices (2x USB-A and 1x USB-C) and the device supports a wide range of products. Each USB port provides 4.5W of output power. Most products that comply with the USB 2.0/3.0 standard and USB Video Class (UVC) and USB Audio Class (UAC) protocols will be supported by Airtame Hub.
Echo
To prevent an unwanted echo, the same echo-canceling device must be selected for the microphone and speaker when configuring hybrid conferencing.
Compatible Peripherals
The following list of compatible devices has been tested with Airtame Hub either by Airtame or a partner and found to work with the given firmware version. Please find the remarks column for further details on limitations or known issues.
If a device is not listed, it means Airtame has not had the opportunity to test with this device/s, therefore we cannot officially provide support for it should issues arise. As long as the device can output via USB and adhere to UVC/UAC (USB Video Class/USB Audio Class) standards then the device should be compatible with Airtame Hub, however, we must recommend you to test with the combination in your environment.
It is always recommended that peripheral devices be updated to their latest firmware versions when troubleshooting.

How to Integrate Airtame into your Network
Airtame has been designed to easily fit into yo...Airtame has been designed to easily fit into your organizational network. Depending on your network configuration you may need to allow certain traffic to ensure your Airtame screens will work as expected. This article will cover how to integrate Airtame into your network.
General tips
To ensure the best experience, we always recommend a wired network correction to your Airtame screen, preferably PoE when possible. This ensures not only a stable network connection but also less cable management.
Alternatively, a 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz WiFi connection can be used. You may experience sub-optimal connection for video conferencing when using a wireless network connection. It is possible to configure a web proxy with your Airtame screen.

Network requirements
-
Client Isolation or NAT Mode, typically enabled on a guest's WiFi, must be disabled since it prevents the computer and Airtame from being able to communicate with each other on the network. (For alternatives, see our section below on Multi-Network setups for internal & guest access)
-
Multicast must be allowed for Airtame to show up in the Airtame app.
-
An NTP server must be accessible for time synchronization. Either an internal NTP (specified by the DHCP option 42) or permission to access external NTP servers.
-
802.11n/ac router and/or access points (5GHz Recommended).
-
WPA or WPA2 (802.1x SSL Supported).
-
RSSI: < -40dbm=Excellent | -40dBm to -50dBm=Good | >-50dBm=Poor.
-
Stable Ping time below 10ms at peak hours.
-
When using an Airtame PoE Adapter, you will need to have a PoE-enabled switch or injector.
- For video conferencing: To ensure the best performance please allocate 10-15 MBPS per device as this is the maximum bandwidth needed when running a call with shared content.
Airtame currently does not Support Captive-Portal Login Networks and WEP.
Required ports access
Airtame uses different network ports for different functions. These ports must be open and available for Airtame to work as expected. This should be checked in your network controller as well as your firewall. ️Airtame relies on accurate time provided by NTP Servers. This means that access to an NTP server is essential.

Airtame screens with an Airtame Hybrid license must be able to communicate with the below *.airtame.cloud and eu.posthog.com, and arctlas.netlify.app to start a video call. Please ensure these addresses are whitelisted within your firewall rules to prevent unwanted error messages from appearing when attempting to launch a call.
Automatic discovery
Airtame uses Multicast to advertise itself on the network for the Airtame app to discover and list all nearby Airtame devices on the same network. The protocol used is SSDP/UPnP.
To allow discovery, Multicast must be enabled on the network and all VLANs used for streaming. If Multicast is not enabled on your network, you will still be able to start a stream by typing the connection code or IP address shown on the Airtame screen into the Airtame app.
Setting up discovery across various VLANS required additional configurations.
Click here to learn how to set up auto-discovery and multicast routing between VLANs
In case you are using a simplified solution like Aruba or Meraki, the Service ID is urn:airtame-com:device:airtame:1
Manually disable discovery
For Airtames only used for digital signage, discovery can be disabled to reduce clutter on the list of streaming devices in the Airtame app.
Multi-network setups for internal & guest access
Despite being able to handle one WiFi and one Ethernet connection, Airtame can be connected to multiple networks at once. If you'd like to connect Airtame to various networks simultaneously, like internal and guest networks, here are some diagrammed examples in order of recommendation.
Note: you can change the connection text shown on the screen to match the setup you've chosen so that employees and guests know how to connect.

1. New Airtame VLAN in a Demilitarized Zone (DMZ)
This is by far the best way to connect Airtame to more than one network. It is the most secure as it is all handled by your firewall; it will give a great performance as all traffic flows through Ethernet (via Airtame PoE adapter or Ethernet adapter) or 5GHz, and it simplifies the network administration.
Click here to read more on how to create a VLAN setup using DMZ
2. Using an existing VLAN
Alternatively, the Airtames can be placed on the guest network and routed the specific ports from the internal network to the guest network. This will allow internal and guest users to stream without giving guests access to the internal network. This may go against your organization's security practices hence we do not endorse this over the DMZ method listed before this option.
3. Using both connections (WiFi + Wired)
Airtame can handle one WiFi connection and one Ethernet connection simultaneously (to two different networks). This setup is more accomplishable and maintains security but can also go against your organization's security practices as the networks could technically get bridged since the route to the same Linux kernel. The only drawback is that the guest WiFi may not provide the same quality as the wired internal connection.

4. Using Airtame's WiFi for guests
This setup entails connecting Airtame to your internal network and enabling Airtame's hotspot AP that creates WiFi inside the room that guests can connect to. The Airtame can even show the WiFi name and password so that guests can help themselves when they enter the room and look at the Airtame screen.
This is our least recommended setup for the following reasons:
-
You may already have guest WiFi which will confuse your guests.
-
Guests will lose Internet connection unless WiFi forwarding is enabled.
-
WiFi Forwarding can be a security vulnerability since it opens a portal to your network to forward the internet connection.
-
Airtame's WiFi doesn't perform as well as your expensive network equipment. Although the 5GHz AP will perform better than the 2.4GHz AP for streaming.
