Quick connect feature is available in the Airtame browser app - at airtame.com/go - and on Airtame mobile apps.
Quick connect allows users to connect to the Airtame devices from the list in just one click, skipping the manual step of entering a pairing code.
For a device to appear on the Quick connect list, a user must successfully connect to it using a pairing code at least once.
Once paired, the device will remain in the user's Quick connect list for 5 days. If the user pairs with the device again within that 5-day window, the countdown automatically resets for another 5 days.
Security Considerations & Configuration Options
When Quick connect is active, users on the same network can connect to previously used Airtame devices with a single click - bypassing the standard pairing code. While this significantly streamlines the daily user experience, it can introduce a risk of accidental connections or unauthorized malicious/disruptive access in shared environments.
To balance convenience with the organization’s security policies, the following administrative controls are available in the Airtame Cloud:
1. Optional Pin code (recommended):
For environments requiring a verification layer without the friction of the full code, you can enable a 4-digit numeric PIN - which will serve as a confirmation that the user that attempts to connect to the device is indeed in the room:
- The 4-digit PIN appears on the Airtame screen only when a user initiates a connection via their Quick connect list.
- If a user chooses to enter the standard 5-character alphanumeric pairing code manually from the start, this secondary PIN will not be requested.
While this approach still requires a manual input, entering 4 simple numbers requires significantly less cognitive effort and time for users than typing the traditional 5-character alphanumeric combination, making it a great compromise for high-security scenarios.
2. Disable Quick connect Discovery:
- The selected device will immediately stop being added to new users' Quick connect lists.
- If a user has already saved the device from a previous session, it may still temporarily appear in their app's list, but the system will block any connection attempts. They will be forced to use the manual pairing code to connect.
Administrators can manage those security settings by navigating to: Airtame Cloud > Device Settings > Security
