Airtame is built to ensure a quick and user-friendly experience. This is especially crucial for guests or other first-time users, who often need to screen share or join a call with little to no time allocated to learn exactly how Airtame works.
Use Airtame screens on a guest network
Many organizations choose to configure their network with a guest network, which they can share with guests and visitors. If you have a guest network, start by making sure you can screen share to the Airtame screen while the laptop is on the guest network. If you cannot screen share from the guest network, you will likely need to define a DMZ for your Airtame screens.

Using the Airtame screen for instructions
For Airtame screens in meeting rooms with frequent guests and first-time users, we always advise utilizing the panel text on the Airtame screen to introduce how to start a screen share or join a call.
Using the panel text as the guide has multiple advantages:
- It makes it intuitive for the user, as the instructions are on the screen they attempt to connect to.
- It removes the need to have any printed-out instructions, meaning less clutter on the table.
- The panel text can easily be updated from anywhere. This lowers the risk that the instructions become outdated.
What steps to show
All Airtame screens have a default text to instruct users on how to either screen share or join a call (if supported by the specific Airtame screen). The default text will also automatically showcase which native protocols have been enabled, allowing for quick screen-sharing options using Miracast, Google Cast, and Airplay, which some users may already be familiar with.

In cases where the default text does not provide all the needed instructions, you may choose to add a custom text. Using the variable drop-down, you can easily insert custom values like the name of the Airtame screen or the connected WiFi. This way your panel text will automatically update, should these values be changed.

If the panel text cannot be shown
In certain cases, you may have configured the screen to automatically turn off or change to a different source, when Airtame is not in use. In these cases, the panel text will not be visible to the user entering the meeting room and we recommend having written instructions. When the user correctly initiates a screen sharing or joins a call, Airtame will use CEC to automatically turn on the screen and change the source to show the Airtame screen.
