There are two distinct ways to act as a Moderator for your Airtame devices: In-App Moderation and Cloud Moderation. This guide breaks down how to use both features to maintain full control over your screen-sharing sessions.
1. In-app Moderation
In-app moderation allows a host to dictate exactly who is sharing and when, within a specific screen sharing session. As the Moderator, you can allow other presenters to connect to your session, control who shares next, and stop any stream — all without losing control of the main screen.
Note: In-app moderation is currently only supported via the Airtame web app and the Airtame mobile apps.
How to use in-app Moderator controls:
- Enable "Moderation" in the Airtame Cloud (Security tab in the device settings)
- Open the Airtame web app or launch Airtame mobile app
- Connect to the device with Moderation feature enabled
- Choose "Share screen" or "Start moderated session"
Note: You can open moderated session straight away or at any time while you are connected to the screen in the screen sharing mode - Once the moderated session is open, users will see a pairing code on the Airtame screen which they can use to connect to your session.
Moderator Controls Overview:
Once your session is active, you have access to the following controls:
Manage the Session: Open and close the moderated session as many times as needed without losing your connection to the screen.
Manage the Waiting Room: View a list of Presenters waiting to share. You can host up to 5 presenters in the waiting room at a time.
Assign Presenters: Ask waiting Presenters to share their screen in any order you prefer, or remove them from the queue entirely.
Interrupt/Stop Sharing: Instantly stop a Presenter's screen share by clicking the Stop share button. You can also ask the next Presenter to share or share your own screen to interrupt an ongoing screensharing.
End the Session: Click the Disconnect button to fully end the session and release control of the screen.
2. Cloud Moderation
Cloud Moderation is designed for IT admins and support staff with accounts in Airtame Cloud. It allows an Airtame Cloud user to remotely terminate an active screen-sharing session or ongoing call directly from the cloud dashboard.
How to Use the Cloud Moderator Tool
Log in to your Airtame Cloud organization.
Select the device (or devices) currently displaying the stream you wish to end.
Click the Stop stream option located in the top menu bar.
Note: Users with an Owner, Administrator, Device Manager, or Content Manager role can select multiple Airtame devices and stop their streams in bulk. Users with just the Moderator role cannot stop streams in bulk; they must select and stop devices one at a time.
