The zero-touch deployment feature for Airtame streamlines the setup of devices by allowing IT administrators to claim and configure them for their organization before they are unboxed. This is the ideal solution for large-scale deployments, especially for Ethernet or Power over Ethernet (PoE) connected devices.
This guide outlines the simple process to claim your Airtame Go and Airtame 3 devices using the QR code on the packaging.
Prerequisites
- Airtame 3 devices and/or Airtame Go devices
- Note: older Airtame hardware does not support zero-touch deployment.
- IT administrator - logged into Airtame Cloud.
- A laptop or mobile phone with a camera
Step-by-Step Guide
The zero-touch deployment feature is designed to be quick and efficient, enabling you to claim multiple devices in a row.
- Open the box and find the zero-touch QR code, without unboxing the device itself.
- Scan the QR code with a mobile or go to the Airtame Cloud URL on a laptop.
- Log in to your Airtame Cloud account if prompted.
- Optionally: Enter a name for the device on the scanning page.
- Use your device's camera to scan the QR code on the box to claim it.
After the green success message, repeat steps 4-5 to scan all your remaining boxes.
Device deployment complete
Once the devices are claimed, they are ready for installation. When an Airtame 3 device is connected to Ethernet/PoE and powered on for the first time:
- It will automatically associate with your Cloud organization.
- It will immediately receive the default Airtame settings you have configured in the Cloud.
- It will adopt the custom name you provided during the zero-touch process (if applicable).
- Its Airtame license will be automatically activated.
In short, the device will be ready to go out of the box after its initial connection.
