How to set up a website as signage

The Website app allows for a public website to be shown on an Airtame screen. While Airtame offers dedicated apps for services like Power BI, YouTube, and Canva, the Website app is a versatile way to display content like company dashboards from other platforms, social media walls, or other regularly updated web pages as digital signage. The app can be configured to reload the page at specific intervals, ensuring the content remains current.

This app should not be confused with sharing a browser tab from a computer to the Airtame screen.

How-to

  1. Log in to your Airtame Cloud organization.

  2. Select one or multiple screens.

  3. Click the Edit settings button.

  4. Click Add under the Default Playlist section, or select an existing playlist to edit.

  5. Click the Website app.

  6. In the URL field, enter the web address of the site to display.

  7. Optional: In the Reload interval (in minutes) field, set how often the page should refresh. This is useful for websites with content that updates automatically, like dashboards.

    1. Note: This feature only works with HTTPS websites.

  8. Click the Save button to add the app to the playlist.

  9. Click the Save button to save the playlist.

  10. Click the Apply changes button to update the screen.

After a few moments, the website will load and be displayed on the Airtame screen. If the Website app is not the first item in the playlist, the app scheduled before it will appear first. To test the setup immediately, temporarily move the Website app to be the first item in the playlist.

Requirements

  • The website must be publicly accessible without requiring a login.

  • The website content cannot rely on technologies like Java, Flash, Silverlight, or WebGL.

Other notes

  • Audio from the website is enabled by default. To mute the sound, the TV or projector's volume must be turned down.

  • Video playback quality and frame rate will depend on the hardware, the overall internet connection, and the connection to the servers where the content is stored.

  • If the Airtame device reboots or a live presentation ends, the webpage will reload from the beginning.
