In some cases, Airtame support will need to see a network traffic dump. This means that you will capture devices that sent and received network packets. Here are the instructions on how to perform a packet capture of Airtame’s traffic and a computer’s traffic:
What you’ll need:
-
Wireshark software installed: https://www.wireshark.org/#download
-
[Windows only] Make sure that you install the add-on WinPcap when you install the Wireshark software. It will be prompted during the setup process.
Airtame to Network
The image below illustrates the network traffic that the Airtame device sends and receives on a network.

Steps:
-
Open the Wireshark Application after installing it on your computer. On the main screen, you will see you have the option of selecting between the Wifi or ethernet. Select the network that the Airtame device is connected to(Wifi or ethernet).
2. Add a Capture filter.
3. In the Capture Filter field type in the command “ host ip_address_of_Airtame” (One example can be “”host 10.119.111.2).
4. Capture the packets:
a) When troubleshooting a discovery issue run the capture for 4-5 minutes.
b) When troubleshooting an update issue first unplug the Airtame from power and repower the Airtame. Then run the capture for 15 minutes.
5. Stop the capture and save it.
6. Once you save the capture you will have a Wireshark capture file (.pcapng) in the folder you saved it.
7. Send this file in a reply to Airtame technical support.
*In the above GIF 10.119.111.2 is the IP address of the Airtame device used for this example.
Airtame to Computer
This is done when you are streaming your computer screen to the Airtame device.

Steps:
-
Start streaming your computer to the Airtame. Open the Wireshark Application after installing it on your computer. On the main screen, you will see you have the option of selecting between the Wifi or ethernet. Select the network that the Airtame device is connected to(Wifi or ethernet).
2. Select to add a capture filter.
4. In the Capture Filter field type in the command “ host ip_address_of_Airtame” (One example can be “”host 10.119.111.2).
5. Capture the packets for 4-5 minutes then stop the capture and save it.
6. Once you save the capture you will have a Wireshark capture file (.pcapng) in the folder you saved it.
In the above example, 10.119.111.2 is the IP address of the Airtame device. 10.119.108.24 is the IP address of the computer which is streaming to the device.
