When it comes to subscription management at Airtame, we standardly follow a co-term licensing logic. Co-term licensing refers to the practice of aligning the expiration dates of multiple software licenses to a single date, instead of having multiple licenses with varying renewal dates. Co-term licensing allows you to consolidate and synchronize all your licenses, streamlining the license management process.
In other words, if you purchase multiple licenses at different times, we will set one date to renew all of your licenses at the same time. It just makes life simpler to manage and renew your Airtame licenses.
Let’s take a few steps to explain how it works:
- The day you activate your first Airtame in the Cloud, this sets your subscription renewal date. This date will be the one we will follow for you to renew your Airtame licenses.
- If you decide to purchase more Airtame licenses later during the subscription period, we will apply a proration logic to your account meaning that:
- We grant you the credits for one year, these credits are added to your balance.
- We calculate the number of credits you need for the rest of the subscription year, by proration against the renewal date. These credits are deducted from your balance. This is done when the device attached to this license is activated in the Cloud
- The credits that are not consumed by the proration logic remain in your account balance to be subtracted from the total of your next invoice.
- When the renewal date happens: we generate an invoice that equals the amount of licenses that are part of your subscription, and then we subtract your account balance.
Now, let’s take an example:

In this example, A Core license device is activated on January 1st, 2023. The renewal date is set to January 1st, 2024. This will be the date of the next invoice.

A Hybrid license device was bought on June 1st, 2023.
- The amount paid is 300€.

This device was activated in the Cloud on July 1st, 2023.
- 300€ is added to your account balance.
- 150€ is subtracted from your account balance for the remaining 6 months of your active subscription period (July 1st, 2023 to January 1st, 2024)
- 150€ remains on your account balance, equivalent to 6 months of license credits.
- At the renewal date (January 1st, 2024), a new invoice is generated for:

- 1 Core Screen license: 120$ - renewal for 1 year
- 1 Hybrid Screen license: 300$ - renewal for 1 year
- The amount of the account balance is subtracted from this invoice: -150$ (equals 6 months of credits already paid for the Hybrid license)
- The amount to be paid is 270$ and the 2 licenses are renewed.
This same subscription logic applies to monthly subscriptions. If you have subscribed to a monthly plan through Airtame.cloud your renewals and consumption of credits on the balance will happen every month.
