Airtame can be manually updated by taking the SD card out of the device and plugging it into your computer using a Micro SD card reader. Here's how to:

Steps to Take Using Windows

  1. Download the newest firmware image
  2. Use 7zip to extract the .TAR file first, then use it again to extract the final .IMG file
  3. Download Win32 Disk Imager (Alternative link: Win32 Disk Imager v1.0)
  4. Plug the SD card reader into your computer and ignore the format request warning
  5. Use Win32 Disk Imager to flash the .IMG file to any partition on the Micro SD card. The video below will show you how to do so 👇
  6. ⚠️ Your computer will warn that the Drive needs to be formatted, this is normal. Simply eject the card and place it in the Airtame

Steps to Take Using Mac

  1. Download the newest firmware image
  2. Extract the .IMG file using "The Unarchiver" 
  3. Plug the SD card into your computer and click "Ignore"
  4. There is no need to format the current SD card, just ignore this warning.
  5. Then flash the firmware to the Micro SD Card using ApplePi Baker by selecting the SD Card, then selecting the IMG file and finally clicking "Restore Backup"
  6. ⚠️ Your computer will warn that the Drive needs to be formatted, this is normal. Simply eject the card and place it in the Airtame
