What's new on Airtame

These releases include updates for the Airtame application, Firmware updates for the Airtame devices, Airtame Cloud, and Airtame Rooms.

Explanation
- Firmware: Update only on the device.

App 4.5.2-app for Windows, Mac, and Linux(released September 13th, 2022)
Bug fixes
- Fixed an issue where devices on Firmware version 3.5.1 could no longer be set up using the Airtame application.
App 4.5.0-app for Windows, Mac, and Linux(released September 6th, 2022)
New features
- 802.1X authentication for ethernet added in setup flow and device settings
- Rooms: Sign in with Google Calendar to have easier access to your meetings.
- Rooms: Added the ability to join calls on Linux.
Improvements
- New streaming technology for Linux: WebRTC-based streaming to provide a smoother screen sharing experience and the ability to select which screen to share in multi-screen setups. This also adds support for the latest Ubuntu LTS version.
- Audio on Linux is for the moment no longer supported. We will seek to add audio at a later date. Customers who wish to use audio streaming on Linux should stay on app version 4.1.1.
- Added new security controls following Electron best practices, including but not limited to the prevention of untrusted resources.
Bugfixes
- Rooms: Fixed an issue that prevented sharing a single window to a Teams call when two overlapping windows of the same program are present, e.g. during a PowerPoint presentation
- Rooms: Fixed an issue that prevented sharing content from a secondary monitor to a Teams call
- Rooms: Cancelling a request to join a call in the Airtame application should now properly return the Airtame Hub to an idle state.
App 4.4.0-app for Windows and Mac (released June 13th, 2022)
New features
- Conferencing support for Airtame Rooms on Airtame Hub. Click “Join call” to easily connect your calendar and get on with your meetings with just one click
- Setup discovery and flow support for Airtame Hub
Improvements
- Changed the shortcut in the app preferences to be direct to the Airtame Help Center, adjusted wording
- Added new styling options to Guide texts for Airtame Hub
Bug fixes
- It is now possible to install an MSI version of the application on a fresh machine without having VCx86 installed in advance
- Fixed an issue where the application could not be moved by dragging the top-right corner of the window on macOS
- Fixed an issue where an MSI application would not respect enabling the setting “Launch on startup” after rollout
App 4.3.3 - for Windows and Mac (released 18th of March 2022)
Fixed an issue on macOS Monterey 12.3 and newer where the Airtame application was sometimes crashing upon stream attempt.
App 4.3.2 - for Windows and Mac (released 29th of November 2021)
Fixed an issue on Windows where the Airtame application was not launching minimized when autostart is enabled.
App 4.3.1 - for Windows and Mac (released 17th of November 2021)
Rolled back the Windows auto-update feature as it was causing problems with installations for users with non-ASCII characters in their Windows username.
App 4.3.0 - for Windows and Mac (released 21st of October 2021)

Windows auto-update: The app now automatically updates to the latest version. The behavior of the MSI mass-rollout version is unchanged (no updates are automatically applied).

Miracast, Airplay, and Google Cast can now be configured in Device Settings.

Proxy login credentials can now be provided in Device Settings.

New application preference - Legacy streaming. Toggle to enable legacy Airtame streaming protocol in case of isolated issues following 4.2.0 application update. Read more here.

Miscellaneous notes
There is still a legacy version of the application (4.2.1-cros) available on the Chrome Web Store and should be used for streaming to Airtame 1 devices. WebRTC-based streaming requires that version 4.4.0 firmware or higher is installed on Airtame 2 devices. Read more here.

Improvements

Streaming via the Airtame app (native Airtame protocol) now utilizes TCP as a transport layer protocol instead of ENET on UDP. This should lead to increased performance when screen sharing, in particular during video playback.

Fixed the issue when a stream would not start from a source device with an odd resolution (e.g. 1904x949).

Additional security step during setup flow: users can choose to set a password for the Airtame's Access Point and its settings during the setup flow. They can skip the step and configure this later, if they wish.

Do Not Disturb functionality on macOS while streaming: users can opt-out of this functionality in the Preferences menu fo the App.
