While Airtame is a solution primarily designed for streaming and digital signage, it can also be used with existing conferencing solutions to improve the meeting experience. There are several ways to incorporate Airtame into your meeting room alongside existing video conferencing equipment.

Airtame in video conferencing setups with no codec
This option applies to use cases where it is not possible to plug the Airtame device into the video conferencing hardware. These setups, also known as BYOD, refer to the fact that the user runs the conferencing call on their own machine and connects the peripherals (microphone, camera, speakers, etc.) to their own laptop.
For this setup:
-
Install the video conferencing solution/peripherals following their provided manual.
-
Plug the Airtame device into the TV and install the Airtame device following the setup instructions for Airtame 1 / Airtame 2.
-
Connect your PC to the video conferencing hardware.
-
Start the video conferencing application on your PC (ex. Microsoft Teams / Skype for Business, Zoom, Google Meet).
-
Open your video conferencing application and start sharing the whole computer desktop, or just a selected window, to the TV, using the Airtame app.
For this use case, we do not advise playing the audio from the Airtame-equipped display, as this will add a 1-second delay. It's recommended to play audio directly from the laptop or on an external speaker connected to the laptop.
Airtame integrated with video conferencing codecs
Many dedicated video conferencing devices, also known as codecs, have HDMI input ports that Airtame can be attached to. This will allow users to use Airtame to share their screen wirelessly with the TV that the codec is connected to. as well as to video meetings running on the codec. Devices that support this include the Poly studio X series, Lenovo Hub 500, Cisco SX series, and most LifeSize devices. Some systems that do not natively have an HDMI input port can achieve this through the use of HDMI capture devices.
For this setup:
-
Install the video conferencing solution following their provided manual and connect the necessary equipment (ex. camera, microphone, and/or speakers).
-
Install the Airtame device following the setup instructions for Airtame 1 / Airtame 2 and plug the Airtame device into the video conferencing solution.
-
Start the video conference and then open the Airtame application on your PC to start sharing your PC's screen to the video call/ TV screen.
For this setup, we advise you to use the Sleep Schedule feature for your Airtame device. Choose the 'When not in use' option, and then the 'Instant' option, in order for your Airtame device to turn off immediately after you stop sharing your screen. This will allow you to continue or end the video call without Airtame staying active and sending its HDMI signal to the video conferencing solution.
