This article describes the configuration steps required in Singlewire Informacast to implement a working integration with Airtame devices.
Pre-requisites: The Airtame Cloud configuration has been done, please read this article for step-by-step instructions: How to create integrations for emergency alerts?
Outbound CAP endpoint
First step is to configure an outbound CAP endpoint to receive emergency notifications from Airtame.
In Informacast, navigate to Recipients > Outbound systems > Outbound CAP
Configuration Steps
- Create an Outbound CAP Endpoint
- Name → provide an identifiable name, this will be reused across the Informacast interface.
- Location → not useful for Airtame - put “null”
- integration configuration → define the URL to call with the appropriate credentials
-
integration configuration: one will be needed per webhook you have created in Airtame. Fill as below:
- Name → provide an identifiable name here, this will help when troubleshooting.
- URL → provide the URL provided by Airtame Cloud in the settings page
- Username → put a default, like user
- Password → put the API Key provided by Airtame Cloud when the URL was generated
- Click Save
✅ Once the above is done → you are ready to send messages from Informacast to Airtame.
Message templates configuration
Reuse pre-set message templates
Informacast provides pre-set message templates such as Emergency Lockdown, Building evacuation,… you can set the system so that Airtame is also notified when these messages are triggered below are some context details and a step by step explanation about how to connect your usual emergency messages to outbound CAP endpoints configured with Airtame.
Informacast also allows you to create specific message template and link them to Scenarios. This could be useful, for example, if Airtame devices must be used for specific type of messaging.
Content section
In the context of this integration, the Content section defines what will be displayed on the Airtame screen.
- Subject: will be sent to Airtame as the <headline> tag in the CAP XML message. This string will be displayed as the headline on your Airtame screen
- Body: will be sent to Airtame as the <description> tag in the CAP XML message. This string will be displayed as the description on your Airtame screen
Recipients
- Navigate to Notifications > Message templates
- Identify the already existing message templates you want to reuse and click the Edit buttonScroll down to the Recipients section and:
- Check the Outbound System option
- In the Outbound systems field, list all the Airtame URL that must be notified when this type of message is triggered in Informacast
- Click on Save template
ℹ️ Using the pre-set with no additional configuration will trigger the blank template on Airtame side. You can achieve more customization by using Notification profiles in Informacast. Please note that modifying profiles can impact your existing emergency procedures on other recipients.
More advanced configuration with notification profiles
By default, Informacast is sending a generic CAP payload to Airtame. Only headline and description are properly customized and usable by Airtame display instructions on the screen. With this generic payload, Airtame will always fallback to the “blank” template.
More precise configuration can be achieved using notification profiles in Informacast
⚠️Notification profile is a shared object with the rest of recipients. Modifying notification profiles may impact your current configuration. Airtame is providing guidances about what would work in the Airtame environment, but highly recommend to test the entire workflow once modified, and get support from Informacast if these changes are impacting other aspect of emergency response.
- Navigate to Notifications > Notifications Profile
- Here you can either:
- create a new notification profile: this will most likely require a new configuration not only for outbound but also for other recipients
- edit a notification profile, just for Outbound CAP
- Useful options:
-
Severity:
- Minor → will trigger the blue template
- Moderate → will trigger the yellow template
- Severe/Extreme → will trigger the red template
- Unknown or Empty → will trigger the blank template
-
Severity:
-
Parameters:
- Allows you show a Standard Response Protocol template
- Name 1 → template / value 1 → %airtame_template%. using this option allows you define the exact template type you want to use. For example, if you want to use a SRP template you can set template / evacuate.
- Allows you show a Standard Response Protocol template
