Data refresh is a crucial aspect of maintaining the accuracy and relevance of your Power BI dashboards.
Our integration with Power BI is built to react to the events sent by the Power BI APIs to refresh the dashboard displayed on your Airtame screens. The Power BI dashboard you display on the Airtame screens can rely on several datasets, for optimal results you need to follow this procedure for any underlying dataset of your dashboards.
In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to configure data refresh in Power BI, ensuring that your reports always reflect the most up-to-date information.
How to configure data refresh in Power BI
-
Navigate to Dataset: Open your Power BI workspace and select the dataset you want to configure data refresh for.
- Click on Dataset: Click on the ellipsis (...) next to the dataset name and select 'Settings.'
-
Enable Scheduled Refresh: In the dataset settings, locate the 'Scheduled refresh' section.
- Toggle On: Toggle the switch to enable scheduled refresh.
- Set Refresh Frequency: Choose the frequency you want your data to be refreshed (daily, weekly, etc.).
- Set Time Window: Specify the time window for the refresh to occur. Consider off-peak hours to minimize disruption.
- Apply Changes: Click 'Apply' to save your refresh schedule settings.
Configure connection settings
In some cases, extra credentials information is required to access the underlying database behind a dataset.
- Data Source Credentials: Ensure that the credentials for accessing your data source are correctly configured.
- Gateway Connection: If your data source is on-premises, configure a data gateway to establish a secure connection between Power BI and your data source.
- Data Source Settings: Review and update the connection settings as needed, including the authentication method and other parameters.
