  • Manually flashing the SD card can only be done for Airtame 1
  • You will need a Micro SD card reader.
  • You don't need to format the Micro SD card. 
  • You will need additional software to manually flash firmware (Instructions below).

 

Micro SD Card requirements

You can re-use the SD card already in Airtame. Should the SD card be corrupt then please follow instructions a the bottom of this article.

  • Size: At least 8 GBs or larger
  • Speed Class: At least Class 4 (C4) or greater 
  • Bus interface: UHS Class 1

 

How to manually flash the SD card:

Airtame can be manually updated by taking the SD card out of the device and plugging it into your computer using a Micro SD card reader. Here's how to:

Using Windows

  1. Download the newest firmware image.
  2. Use 7zip to extract the .TAR file first, then use it again to extract the final .IMG file.
  3. Download Win32 Disk Imager (Alternative link: Win32 Disk Imager v1.0).
  4. Plug the SD card reader into your computer and ignore the format request warning.
  5. Use Win32 Disk Imager to flash the .IMG file to any partition on the Micro SD card. The video below will show you how to do so.
  6. Your computer will warn that the Drive needs to be formatted, this is normal. Simply eject the card and place it in the Airtame.

  

Using macOS

  1. Download the newest firmware image.
  2. Extract the .IMG file using "The Unarchiver".
  3. Plug the SD card into your computer and click "Ignore".
  4. There is no need to format the current SD card, just ignore this warning.
  5. Then flash the firmware to the Micro SD Card using ApplePi Baker by selecting the SD Card, then selecting the IMG file and finally clicking "Restore Backup".

⚠️ Remember to click "Ignore" after inserting the SD card.

⚠️ When installing ApplePi Baker users password will be requested. This is required to use application.

⚠️ Your computer will warn that the Drive needs to be formatted after completing the steps above, this is normal. Simply eject the card and place it in the Airtame.

 

In case of a corrupted SD card:

If you run into any problems with a physically corrupted SD Card and are still within Airtame's warranty period; please send your request along with a proof of purchase to support@airtame.com for a replacement SD card.
If you are not within warranty you can purchase a new SD card. Requirements:

  • Size: At least 8 GBs or larger
  • Speed Class: At least Class 4 (C4) or greater 
  • Bus interface: UHS Class 1
