What is Miracast?

The Miracast streaming protocol lets you use the native streaming functionality from Windows and Android devices to Airtame 2 without the need for the Airtame app installed.
Additionally, Miracast will allow Windows users to "Extend" their desktop and use it as a separate display.

Two types

1. "Peer-to-peer" or "Ad-hoc": This allows for using Miracast via a Wi-Fi Direct connection to Airtames own Access Point. The sender can also be on other Wi-Fi networks at the same time.

Note: For this type, at least on of Airtames own Access Points needs to be enabled and cannot be a hidden SSID.

2. Miracast over infrastructure: This means that the connection will happen over the existing network.

We plan on initially introducing the "peer-to-peer" functionality and will at a later point look into using the existing infrastructure.

Status of Airtame and Miracast

With our recent partnership with AirServer, we are working on implementing the Miracast streaming protocol into Airtame.

You will only be able to enable and stream using Miracast to Airtame 2 and not to Airtame 1. For Airtame 1 you will have to use our Airtame app.

The current status for general release of Airserver's Miracast is expected in the coming months.
