What is Miracast?

The miracast streaming protocol lets you use the native streaming functionality from Windows and Android devices to Airtame 2 without the need for the Airtame app installed.
Additionally, miracast will allow Windows users to "Extend" their desktop and use it as a separate display.

Two types:

  • "Peer-to-peer" or "ad-hoc": This allows for using Miracast via a Wi-Fi Direct connection to Airtames own Access Point.
  • Miracast over infrastructure: This means that the connection will happen over the existing network.

Note: We plan on initially introducing the "peer-to-peer" functionality and will at a later point look into using the existing infrastructure.

Status of Airtame and Miracast

With our recent partnership with AirServer (Read about the partnership here), we will be working on implementing the Miracast streaming protocol into Airtame.

We plan to have more information during Q1 2020 and expect to have this functionality implemented during the first half year of 2020.

You will only be able to enable and stream using miracast to Airtame 2 and not to Airtame 1. For Airtame 1 you will have to use our Airtame app.
